Happy Spring!

This week is Spring Break for us and we're all looking forward to some time off. Hopefully we'll have a chance to do some fun things together, too. It's a little tricky entertaining 4 months - 9 years! We love you all and hope things are going well.

Motie riding.

Suzy and I went out with some friends riding dirt bikes Saturday. It was a lot of fun and I have decided that I now NEED a bike. It is hard to find places to ride over here, let alone people to ride with, so we lucked out. A two-stroke 250, a quad, and PW50 (the one Suzy liked).

A Great Poem

Mom found this poem recently and wanted me to share it with everyone. I think it captures a lot of our feelings.

Dad.....so many images come to mind
whenever I speak your name;
It seems without you in my life
things have never been the same.

What happened to those lazy days
when I was just a child;
When my life was consumed in you
in your love, and in your smile.

What happened to all those times
when I always looked to you;
No matter what happened in my life
you could make my gray skies blue.

Dad, some days I hear your voice
and turn to see your face;
Yet in my turning....it seems
the sound has been erased.

Dad, who will I turn to for answers
when life does not make sense;
Who will be there to hold me close
when the pieces just don't fit.

Oh, Dad, if I could turn back time
and once more hear your voice;
I'd tell you that out of all the dads
you would still be my choice.

Please always know I love you
and no one can take your place;
Years may come and go
but your memory will never be erased.

Today, Jesus, and You are listening
in your home above;
Would you go and find my dad
and give him all my love.

The WEIRD things my dad pays people to do =)

So it was freezing cold around 20 maybe 10 with wind chill, it had just snowed, Sunday morning and my dad gets a great idea to pay josh to go down the slide off the back of our deck without a shirt on. Well Josh accepted the $20.00 bribe. Sorry it is sideways it loaded like that for some reason. Anyways, just a glimpse at our crazy family =)

The Headstone is Done!

I took Dad some flowers today since it's the 4th. As I was leaving, a man knocked on my window and said "Who is your soldier?" I said "Jim Lakey". He said "Would you like me to play a song for him?" I said "Yes." So we walked back over to the gravesite and he played Amazing Grace on his bag pipes, facing Dad. He then saluted him afterwards. It was beautiful!

Caleb's Birthday and Trip to the Alps

Caleb turned 26 this year. He is closer to 30 now than 20! I planned a surprise birthday party for him with some of our friends. We had a good dinner, and played Bonko, a fun Bangerter family dice game. Happy Birthday to my great Husband. I love him so much!
The next week Caleb and I took a trip with our friends to Edelweiss, a Department of Defense US resort. We visited Prince Ludwig's palace, "Schloss Linderhoff" (The fancy building built in Rococo style... overboard fancy in the interior). We also took a quick drive through the Austrian Alps. The weather didn't agree with us. It was rainy and windy the whole time, but we still had a great trip. It is now snowing here for the first time this winter. It is so beautiful. I am just worried for my tulips that were coming up very well. I hope they still come up after the snow! We are doing well, and love you all!

Well his pictures didn't load last time. But here they are!

Donald & Connie

Adam, Taylor and I went out to Dad's cousin, Donald and his wife Connie's house for a visit. Connie made us warm Apple Cobbler with vanilla ice cream. We had a great visit and talked a little about Dad and Donald.

Private - Never mind

Nevermind my last post. Caleb said he already made it so that outside people could not leave random posts, so there is no need to go private. Love, Liz

Baby Ashton!

Here's Ashton Gregory Lakey!
He was born on the 24th at 2:24 p.m. He was 8 lbs 3oz and 20 1/2 inches long.
He's a very long and skinny baby, definitely got his genes from my dad.
Little Ashton's a really good baby except for he's got his sleeping schedule all wrong, he sleeps all day and parties all night. What a bummer for me huh.
