Quote from Dad about Grandpa

I just found a binder that Dad put together of Grandpa Lakey called "Life and Times". The very last sentence was a quote that Dad wrote about Grandpa that I think is the exact same way we feel about Dad. He said "Most of all we love him for the strength that we've gained for tomorrow by feasting on yesterday with Dad." Dad always knew how to phrase it just right.
Love you all,
Liz

Weinachsmarkt auf Deutschland!!!

I went to Dresden and saw the famous church that was bombed in WWII and recently restored within the lat 15 years... Frauenkirchen. Or in english the Woman's church.

I also went to the Freiberg Temple, but only for a picture, we unfortunately did not get to attend a session.

We also went to Seiffen where all of the wooden figures and pyramids (nativity scenes) are made. It was a cute town. The yellow church is the famous building in Seiffen. Picturesque.
I went with 5 other ladies from our ward. We had a good time and spent a lot of money!
Caleb did not get to come with me. He would have hated walking around the christmas market for 7 hours one day and 5 the next in the freezing cold. You will see a picture of me and other ladies warming up by the outdoor warmers.
-I would love to go to these markets with some of my sisters-in laws. They are so fun.
Love to ALL,
Suzy

Mallorca

Here are some more pictures of our Mystery Trip

Why the dotted line down the center of a 5 foot wide road???

I Caught the wave's splash in the photo of Caleb on the coastline

Thanksgiving in Germany...or Spain

here we are in MALLORCA!!!
Caleb is good at surprises. Did anyone know that???
The morning of my birthday, Caleb made me a big breakfast and said..."we're catching a plane at 4:00 so you need to pack your bags." On our way to the airport I tried to guess where we were headed and remembered that there was an island out in the Mediterranean, and it started with an "M" but couldn't remember the name, and didn't think that was where we would go, but we got the airport and found out that we were going to Mallorca!

We had a great time. We had breakfast and dinner included in the price of the hotel. I got a facial and caleb got a foot massage. We walked along the beach and took some fun pictures. Saturday, we rented a car and drove along the mountainous coastline on some pretty crazy windy, steep and skinny roads. We had the greatest time.

The picture of the quilt is what my mom sent to me for my birthday. She surprised me and made me a quilt of all of my highschool sports t-shirts. Another good surprise.

We hope that everyone else had as great of a thanksgiving as we did.

Love,Suzy

Our Gracie Baby

She's changing so quickly we wanted to share some more pictures with you. Elizabeth, from one nerd to another... we hope this qualifies. Suzy, we are anxious to hear about the details of your surprise birthday trip. (If we know Caleb aka 'romeo' like we think we do it probably involved some c4, off road vehicles, caves, and MREs.) Ok, ok, maybe not quite that but honestly... did you watch 'Over the top' at least once?

Peace out,

Andy and Sarah

Explanation of Tokyo Slideshow

Hey, thanks for the nice comments about our photos. Liz said that it was interesting seeing Asian Disney characters and since I didn't take any I realized she was talking about the crazy costumed teenage girls in the Harajuku district of Tokyo. Gwen Stefani made a song about these "Harajuku girls" who dress up on the weekends and parade around letting the tourists take their pictures and hanging out having fun. Most of them are gothic, baby doll or anime (Japanese cartoon) themed. We took a photo with the "bloody doctor" group because Sean is a surgeon and he thought it was funny. Also, the photos of the people in Japanese dress were part of a wedding ceremony at the Meiji shrine (the large wooden building) we visited in the middle of Tokyo. The woman in full kimono was the bride. The other funny thing is that they love Christmas here (did you see the photo of Colonel Sanders dressed in a Santa suit? Even though most of them are Buddist, they have Christmas decorations everywhere and participate in many of our traditions. They just love anything American and will go out of their way to help us. If you ask a sales clerk in a store to give you directions to another store they will not only walk outside and point it out, but walk down the block with you to make sure you found it okay. Also, in the city if you drop something then someone will pick it up and place it on a ledge for you near where you dropped it (including wallets) so that it doesn't get stepped on. Everyone is so nice here! By the way - Liz the blessing picture of Taylor was so gorgeous. She looks like a doll baby.

Blessing Day

Today was Taylor's blessing. Adam blessed her with his 5 brothers, Mike, Dad, Adam's Dad, Adam's Grandpa, and our friend Grant, all in the circle. Then everyone came over for Costa Vida salad. It was a hit! Debi made pumpkin cake and cookies. Mom brought over her famous Kamona cake. Is that how you spell it? Anyway, she looked beautiful. She didn't cry once during her blessing; it was great! I have better pictures on another camera, but this was her before church in her swing.

Our Peter Pan Themed Halloween

Sorry it's taken us a few days to get these Halloween photos posted. Liz and Suzy, we loved yours! Taylor is such a cute little pumpkin and Suzy you're a perfect Snow White. This year Marissa wanted to be Wendy from Peter Pan, so that's what our theme was (if you can't tell from the picture, I'm the lucky one that got to be Peter Pan because none of our girls wanted to be a boy!) Kelea loved being Tinkerbell, Sean had fun as Captain Hook, and Liana was comfy in her PJs as baby Michael. The girls also had fun helping me decorate our 9th floor hallway for all the little Japanese kids who come on base to trick-or-treat! We're praying for you Sarah, and are looking forward to seeing pictures of baby Grace!!!!!

Snow White and Prince Charming

So, MOM sent Suzy this Snow White outfit for Halloween. Everybody at the Ward party loved her. One little girl's mom came to Suzy and said, "Ever since you walked in my little girl has been staring at you. Can she get her picture with you?" IT was like Disneyland!! The kids thought Suzy really was Snow White. They didnt really care about me, Prince Charming. I guess my outfit wasn't as "convincing."

Suzy's grandma passed on the tradition of making SpudNuts on Halloween to Suzy, so she made 80 of them with some friends at our house. They were really tasty and disappeared in no time at the ward party.

Big Snow White and little Snow White.

So who's is better? Just vote....I dont want to hear any, "well this one is artistic and that one is very detailed" I want to hear, "this one is cooler, better, etc. and that one is...well....second best."
Love to all, Caleb and Suzy
